 Introduction

What do you believe? What you believe influences how you act. Your belief system determines your thought patterns, and your body responds accordingly.

Research has shown, for instance, that anxiety and agitation can influence negative chemical reactions in the body.

Several illnesses are increasingly linked to unforgiveness, resulting in negative chemical reactions in the body; a function of bitter messages being sent to the brain. The brain then responds by sending messages that cause the release of body "juices" in proportions that are harmful to the body to combat the negative vibes set off by bitterness.

When you live by faith, faith principles must be applied together. This is fundamental to success.

There are established laws in the spiritual, which support what works in the physical and what does not. Any wrong assumption in spiritual warfare will flout such laws, ensuring they do not work in that circumstance.

The lack of result in such circumstances could cause you to lose faith in the ability of God to perform, thereby resulting in a wrong view of who God is. This negative outcome might lead you to develop limiting beliefs that could sabotage future victories.

Your Belief System

“Believe Right to Act Right”. Always confirm what God’s word in the bible says about your circumstance and believe that the positive result in His word should be the outcome you will get.

Then align your actions with that belief system, because to act rightly, you first have to believe rightly. What you believe determines what you see. What you see influences what you agree. What you agree to then becomes the reality you see.

For instance:

When the doctor insisted that fibroids were sharing the uterine space with my baby, I told him quite clearly that I saw only my baby. I did not say I did not see the fibroids he was trying to show me on the screen of the scanning machine, because that might be untrue. I mean, as a doctor, he should be able to identify fibroids from the screen.

Instead, I refused to look closer at what he was showing me, choosing instead to focus on my baby, who, by the way, had the legal right to occupy my womb. By stating clearly what I wanted to see, it became my reality through faith. I gave the issue of fibroids no further thought as the pregnancy progressed.

I concentrated on preparing for the arrival of my child. Consequently, the fibroid lost its spiritual power to thrive in my womb. The womb is mine, the baby is mine, but the fibroid was not mine. At delivery by caesarian section, the doctors testified that no fibroids were seen in my womb. And none, by God’s mercy, exists in it till this day. Amen.

The Implications of Your Belief System

Your belief system is central to fighting spiritual wars victoriously. Action follows beliefs, and what you believe guides the actions you take.

Ten of the twelve Israeli spies Moses sent to spy out the land came back and gave a negative report about the land they had searched. They said it was a land that destroyed its inhabitants, and the people there were like giants, while they classified themselves as grasshoppers (Numbers 13:1-33).

This belief system showed that the spies, unlike David, were intimidated by the size of the inhabitants of the land rather than encouraged by the size of their God. Yet their God created the same people they feared.

The spies allowed what they saw in the physical to overshadow what they knew about the spiritual. They worked by sight and not by faith. The bible is clear that without faith, no man can please God (Hebrews 11:6).

So, the action resulting from the belief system of the ten spies was not pleasing to God because their words showed their lack of confidence in God’s ability to take them into the Promised Land. Their words were in stark contrast to the report of Caleb and Joshua, who did not refute the obvious difficulty in taking the land but firmly stated that the situation notwithstanding, the Lord God was able to deliver the land and their inhabitants into the hands of the Israelites.

As a result, God honored the two spies who brought a positive report and made sure the remaining ten did not set foot on the Promised Land because they did not believe right.

What are Adverse Circumstances?

Adverse circumstances are mostly spiritual attacks when sin is not involved. These spiritual attacks manifest as adverse circumstances that cause sorrow, pain, or shame.

At times, adverse circumstances can be a result of poor choices, for instance, in situations where financial lack due to a high level of indebtedness leads to poverty. But most of the time, adverse circumstances that cause a loss of joy are attacks.

How to Handle Adversity

Some people see such circumstances as divinely allowed to teach us humility. But such submissions are also challenged by verses in the bible, which clearly show us that the mission of the devil is to steal, kill, and destroy. The Lord Jesus came to destroy the work of the devil to give us life more abundantly (Acts 10:38).

It is of greater benefit to you if you approach adverse circumstances as attacks rather than lessons in humility. This is because a fight is won in the mind first before it is won on the battlefield. Your mindset is critical to a victorious outcome in adversity because the way you view adversity determines the way you fight it.

If you think adversity is a lesson in humility, then you are likely to tolerate it and endure loss as a victim. If you view adversity as an attack, then you are more likely to stand up and fight. This tenacious mindset is what is required to win. You should fight and win without suffering any loss.

Even if it was a lesson in humility, you are better off becoming humble after victory rather than conceding to a loss only to realize afterwards that you should have fought.

The word of God teaches you to align your belief system with what the bible says. Many of the events recorded in the bible show you what is possible when you believe right. These are stories of men and women who once walked the earth. If they can get such results, you can!

Conclusion

To please God and get results in your circumstances, your words, thoughts, and actions should show your confidence in God’s ability to produce your desired result. Your words and mindset should not downplay any difficulty in the situation, but believe that, notwithstanding that challenge, God can deliver and turn around circumstances in your favor.
