discover purpose blog

When you lead and live with intention, it shows. You get results that are consistent with your input. Leading with intention through purpose and faith means approaching leadership purposefully and relying on God’s guidance.

God formed you with intentionality. Before you ever breathed your first breath, He had a plan for your life (Jeremiah 1:5). That means your life is not random or insignificant. Your gifts, your story, your personality; are all part of a divine design.

Your life has meaning because your Maker has a mission. Faith is how you hold onto that truth, even when it feels blurry. Purpose isn’t found in the spotlight; it’s found in obedience, one day at a time. Trusting God leads you to your calling.

How Do You Discover Purpose?

Many try to discover purpose by looking inward. But the real purpose starts with looking upward. Your purpose is found through faith in the God who created you.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 - NIV)

We all want to know why we’re here and what we’re supposed to do with our lives. I’ve been chasing purpose for years, looking inwards instead of upwards, before I realized the Bible offered something deeper: an alignment with yourself, God, and others.

You are to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind. When you love God, you will do as He says, knowing He has your best interest at heart. Likewise, you are to love your neighbour as yourself. When you love your neighbour, you will act in their best interest.

Note that the yardstick for loving your neighbour as yourself is on the premise that you love yourself. So, self-love is not selfish but scriptural. One way you can love your neighbour is through service when you use your gifts and talents to bless others through your vocation, profession, or artistic expressions, to mention just a few.

So, purpose isn’t just about what you do; it’s about who you serve. Real purpose always connects to others. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, artist, entrepreneur, or student, your God-given calling will shine brightest when rooted in love and service.

It takes faith to trust a plan you can't fully see. Often, God reveals your purpose one step at a time, not all at once. You’re invited to live with an open heart, trusting that God is leading you, even when you don’t have all the details.

You Don’t Have to Have it All Figured Out.

Most of us don’t wake up one day with a lightning bolt moment of clarity. Purpose unfolds through obedience, prayer, and sometimes even through our mistakes.

There will be seasons when it feels like you’re off-track. Maybe you've messed up. Maybe you’ve been waiting for answers. Maybe the path is just unclear.

So if you’re feeling lost today, don’t panic. You're not off course. You're in process.

You don’t have to fret about your purpose. You were created for it. As you walk with God in faith, you will discover your purpose one step at a time. Just keep following the nudgings of your heart to step out of your comfort zone and try new things.

Are you in a place where you are finding your purpose through faith?
